Rooftop and pole-mounted camera coverage with a centralized control cabinet
Client and exact site details are described generally to protect customer confidentiality. The installation work, hardware and process shown are real.
The client, a commercial property in Nairobi, needed complete perimeter and entrance coverage after finding their existing arrangement left the rear access road and loading area unmonitored.
The property had no CCTV coverage of its own -- security relied on a physical guard presence at the main gate, with no way to review incidents afterward or monitor the building's rear and elevated areas.
Full coverage required elevated vantage points (roofline and boundary poles), there was no video evidence available if an incident occurred, and the owner had no way to check the property remotely.
Cameras were mounted at rooftop and boundary-pole positions to cover the perimeter and entrances, with cabling run through protected conduit back to the control cabinet -- set up and secured on site, shown in the video above.
The control cabinet was fitted with backup power so recording continues through short outages -- a standard part of every Qyvea CCTV installation.
Each camera was angled and tested to eliminate blind spots at the rear and loading area, motion zones were set, and the system was configured for remote viewing from the client's phone.
Day and night footage was reviewed camera-by-camera to confirm coverage, image clarity and night-vision performance before handover.
The client was walked through the remote-viewing app, shown how to pull up recorded footage, and given basic guidance on what to check if a camera ever needs attention.
Rooftop and pole-mounted cameras give the best perimeter coverage, but need extra care on cable protection and weatherproofing. Camera angles also have to be checked at different times of day to rule out glare or backlighting that isn't obvious during a midday install.
Qyvea recommends periodic checks of lens cleanliness, cable connections and firmware, covered under our Preventive Maintenance service.
Fingerprint and keypad terminals replacing manual sign-in
Client and exact site details are described generally to protect customer confidentiality. The installation work, hardware and process shown are real.
The client wanted to replace manual sign-in and key-based entry at their building's entrances with an automated, auditable access system.
Entry was controlled manually with a logbook and physical keys -- no record of exact entry and exit times, keys that could be copied or lost, and no quick way to revoke someone's access.
Door types and existing hardware at each entrance, wiring routes to each terminal, and positioning terminals for reliable use in daily foot traffic.
Biometric and keypad access terminals at each entrance, wired to electric door-release hardware.
Terminals were fitted at building entrances and wired into the door-release hardware, then enrolled with authorized users and tuned for reliable, low-friction daily use, as shown in the video above.
Every terminal was tested on site for read accuracy and door-release reliability before handover. The client was shown how to enroll new users, remove access for someone who leaves, and what to check if a terminal misreads.
Terminal placement matters as much as the hardware itself -- the wrong mounting height or direct sunlight on the sensor affects fingerprint read reliability more than the spec sheet suggests.
We recommend periodic sensor cleaning and a re-test of enrolled fingerprints, covered under our access control maintenance service.
What happens on the bench before a motor ever reaches a client's gate
Before any automatic gate motor goes out to a client site, Qyvea unboxes and assembles it on the bench first -- motor, control board and remotes -- to confirm every component is present and working before it ever reaches the property, as shown in the video above.
Catching a faulty control board or a missing part on the bench costs a few minutes. Catching the same issue on site, mid-installation, costs the client a delay -- so every kit is checked before it leaves for the property.
An employee checks in on a ZKTeco fingerprint attendance terminal: finger on the reader, match, and a Check-In recorded with the date and time.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT →An outdoor Hikvision installation: a PTZ dome camera on a steel pole with a weatherproof junction box, and bullet cameras covering the site.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT →A face recognition terminal, with a fingerprint sensor as a second option, mounted beside an office door. Authorised staff are recognised and the door releases.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT →A fingerprint and keypad access control reader mounted beside a glass office door. Staff unlock the door with a fingerprint, with a PIN as a backup.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT →Before: exposed, weathered cable joints and an old camera on a parapet. After: a tidy IP CCTV system with proper cabling and protected connections.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT →A fully touch-free door: staff enter with Hikvision face recognition and leave by waving a hand over an infrared no-touch exit button.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT →A clean installation of Hikvision 4MP Smart Hybrid Light cameras: sharp 4MP video by day, and infrared or full-colour footage at night.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT →A network cabinet redone from scratch: cables re-terminated, routed and dressed so every link is tidy, labelled and easy to trace.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT →Both kinds of automatic gate in action: a sliding gate running along its track and a swing gate opening on its arms, each driven by its own motor.
