An estate can easily have dozens of cameras, far more than any guard can watch. Intelligent video analytics flip the job around: cameras detect defined events and bring them to a person's attention.

Analytics that matter for estates

AnalyticEstate use
Human / vehicle detectionAlerts only for people and vehicles, not trees, rain or animals
Line crossingA virtual tripwire along the boundary wall or fence
Intrusion zoneAlerts when someone enters a defined area after hours
LoiteringSomeone lingering near the gate or perimeter
Number plate recognitionPlates read at the gate and searchable later
Face recognitionOnly where appropriate and in line with the Data Protection Act, 2019

False alarms are the real problem

Basic motion detection triggers on anything that moves, so guards learn to ignore it. Analytics that classify people and vehicles, such as Hikvision's AcuSense, cut nuisance alerts so the alerts that remain get attention.

Faster investigations

Instead of scrubbing through hours of footage, recordings can be searched by event type, time window or plate. An incident that used to take a morning to find can take minutes.

Common Questions

Do we need new cameras for analytics?

Not always. Some analytics run on the recorder, so existing cameras can gain some features. The best results usually come from cameras with built-in analytics.

Will analytics stop all false alarms?

No system is perfect, but human/vehicle classification greatly reduces alerts from animals, trees and weather.

Is face recognition legal in estates?

It can be used where appropriate, but it involves personal data, so notice, security and retention need to follow Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
