CCTV Camera Offline? Here's Why
A camera showing "offline" on the recorder or app is almost always a power or network problem, not a broken camera. We check both before assuming the worst.

Before assuming a camera has failed, the two things worth ruling out are whether it's actually receiving power and whether it can reach the recorder over the network -- both are far more common causes than a genuinely dead camera.
The most common causes we find when diagnosing this fault.
Loose adapter, tripped circuit, or PoE port not delivering power.
Damaged, disconnected, or corroded cable/connector.
Two devices assigned the same address on the network.
Too many cameras drawing power from one PoE switch/NVR.
Camera channel needs re-adding after a firmware update or reset.
Water ingress at an outdoor junction affecting the connection.
Describe the issue — photos or video help.
Remote diagnosis where possible, a site visit where it isn't.
Repair, reconfigure, upgrade or replace — based on findings.
Approved work carried out, then tested.
No -- it more often points to a power or network interruption than a failed camera. We check both first.
Some network/configuration causes can be diagnosed remotely; power and cabling faults need a site visit.
Yes -- that camera won't record while disconnected, which is why catching this quickly matters.
Yes -- checking camera and network connectivity is part of a scheduled maintenance visit.
Tell us what you're seeing and we'll diagnose it properly -- remotely where we can, on-site where we can't.
