Electric Fence Alarm Fault? Here's Why
A fence alarm that keeps triggering without an actual intrusion is frustrating and, over time, gets ignored -- which defeats the point. Most causes are simple to check.

An electric fence alarm system doesn't trigger randomly -- something is causing a voltage change or break in the circuit that the system interprets as a fault or intrusion. Finding that physical cause stops the false alarms for good.
The most common causes we find when diagnosing this fault.
The single most common cause -- growth against the fence line.
A connector or joint along the wire run has come loose.
Poor or degraded earthing causing inconsistent readings.
A cracked or wet insulator allowing current to leak.
Wildlife triggering the alarm at the fence line.
Alarm threshold set too sensitive for normal conditions.
Describe the issue — photos or video help.
Remote diagnosis where possible, a site visit where it isn't.
Repair, reconfigure, upgrade or replace — based on findings.
Approved work carried out, then tested.
Vegetation shifting in wind, dew forming on wires or insulators, and nocturnal animals are all more common at night, which is why fence faults often show up then.
Clearing growth away from the fence line yourself is safe and often resolves the issue -- just switch off the energizer first.
Not usually -- the energizer is typically just responding correctly to a real (if minor) disturbance on the line, like vegetation or a loose connection.
A technician tests the earth resistance directly -- this isn't something to guess at without the right equipment.
Tell us how often it triggers and what you've already checked and we'll diagnose the actual cause.
