ZKBio Time.Net is designed for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 on a dual-core 2.0 GHz CPU with 4 GB RAM and around 100 GB free disk. It generally runs on Windows 11 too when installed as administrator, but confirm with your supplier for your exact version.
Key takeaways
- Dual-core CPU, 4 GB RAM and about 100 GB free disk is the stated baseline.
- A wired network connection to the same LAN as the terminal.
- Windows 11 usually works; install as administrator and test.
- Keep the PC on and backed up.
01Minimum and comfortable specs
The vendor baseline is small. For a single K40 Pro and up to a few hundred staff, any modern office PC is plenty.
- OS: Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 listed by the vendor; Windows 11 commonly used in practice.
- CPU: dual-core 2.0 GHz or better.
- RAM: 4 GB minimum; 8 GB is more comfortable if the PC does other work.
- Disk: about 100 GB free if you keep years of records; an SSD makes reports faster.
- Network: Ethernet to the same router or switch as the terminal.

02Running it on Windows 11
Newer Windows versions are not always on the vendor's formal list, so treat Windows 11 as supported-in-practice rather than guaranteed.
- Install .NET Framework 4.0 or enable the older .NET feature if prompted.
- Right-click Setup.exe and choose Run as administrator.
- If it complains, try Properties > Compatibility and run it in Windows 8 compatibility mode.
- Allow the program through Windows Defender Firewall for private networks.
03Network checklist
The software talks to the K40 Pro over TCP/IP, usually port 4370. The PC and terminal need to be on the same network range, for example 192.168.1.x for both. See how to set the terminal IP.
04Which PC should host it?
Pick the one that stays on and is backed up: the HR or admin PC. Avoid a travelling laptop, a shared reception PC that gets reset, or a PC that sleeps overnight. For several branches, see the multi-branch guide.
05A typical scenario
A school bursar had a 10-year-old PC with 2 GB of RAM and a full disk. The software opened, but reports took minutes and the database nearly filled the drive. A second-hand office PC with 8 GB RAM and an SSD, plus a monthly backup to a flash drive, solved it for a modest cost.
Illustrative example based on common cases, not a named customer.
06Common mistakes
- Buying a very low-spec PC because the stated minimum looks small.
- Installing on a shared PC that gets cleaned and reset by another department.
- Running the database on a nearly full disk.
- Assuming Windows 11 compatibility without a test.
- Putting the PC on Wi-Fi far from the terminal.
07Quick checklist
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, administrator rights
- 4 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB comfortable
- Plenty of free disk space
- Wired network to the terminal's switch
- Antivirus set to allow the ZKTeco program
- Backup plan agreed
08Frequently asked questions
Does ZKBio Time.Net work on Windows 11?
In practice it commonly does when installed as administrator, but the vendor's list names older Windows versions. Test it before you commit, or ask your supplier.
Can it run on a Mac?
No. It is Windows software. Run it on a Windows PC or in a Windows virtual machine.
Do I need a server?
Not for a small business. A normal office PC is enough for one or a few terminals.
How much disk space will records use?
Punch records are small. 100 GB is a comfortable ceiling for years of data; back it up regularly.
