CCTV Maintenance for Homes in Kenya

Home CCTV systems don't stop needing attention the day they're installed. Cameras go offline, remote viewing stops working, storage fills up, footage gets blurry, and NVRs develop faults. Qyvea diagnoses the actual cause and repairs, services or upgrades your home system — whether we installed it or not.

Any brand. Any install. Assessed first.

Why Home CCTV Needs Servicing

Home CCTV systems work hard. Outdoor cameras sit through rain, dust and heat. Indoor cameras collect dust on the lens and around the sensor. NVR hard drives spin continuously. Wi-Fi and internet connections change. Phones get replaced. And when something stops working, it usually happens quietly — you don't notice until you go looking for footage that isn't there.

A proper home CCTV service covers the things you can't see from the app:

  • Lens and housing cleaning
  • Cable and connector checks
  • Power supply and PoE checks
  • Recording and storage testing
  • Remote viewing configuration
  • Firmware and app updates where needed

If your system was installed by another provider, that's fine — we assess it on its own merits and tell you plainly what we can do.

Real Home CCTV Faults We Fix

The faults most homeowners in Kenya call us about.

Camera Offline

One or more cameras not showing in the app — often a power, cable or network issue, not necessarily a dead camera.

Remote Viewing Fails

App won't connect, or shows "device offline" after a router change, new phone, or internet provider switch.

Footage Missing

Recording gaps, footage only goes back a few days, or the NVR shows a "no HDD" or storage error.

Blurry or Hazy Image

Dust on the lens, condensation inside the housing, or a camera that's drifted out of focus over time.

Night Vision Failure

IR LEDs dim or dead, or the camera that used to show colour at night now shows pitch black.

Lost Access

Forgotten admin password, NVR locked out, or a system left behind by a previous owner or installer.

We Didn't Install It? That's Fine.

Most homes in Kenya have CCTV installed by a company that's no longer around, or moved to a different vendor, or was installed by a previous owner. None of that means the system is beyond help.

We assess the equipment, its condition and how it's configured, then tell you honestly whether it can be:

  • Repaired as-is
  • Reconfigured (app, recording, remote access)
  • Upgraded in part (cameras or storage)
  • Partially replaced
  • Fully replaced, if that's genuinely the sensible option

We can't promise every third-party system is repairable sight unseen — some equipment is genuinely past its useful life — but we assess before we conclude that.

Does Your Home System Need Replacing Or Just Repairing?

A fault doesn't automatically mean the whole system needs replacing.

Repair

Restore the existing camera or NVR where that's practical and cost-effective — most faults fall into this category.

Upgrade

Replace the specific cameras or storage that have failed or are outdated, while keeping the usable cabling, mounts and power supply in place.

Replace

Recommended where equipment is obsolete, damaged beyond practical repair, or genuinely incompatible with what the home needs now.

Common questions from homeowners

How often should home CCTV be serviced in Kenya?

Most home systems benefit from an inspection every 6 to 12 months. Homes in dusty areas, near the coast, or with exposed outdoor cameras may need checks more often. We recommend a schedule after assessing your specific installation.

Why has my home CCTV camera stopped working?

A camera going offline is usually caused by a power issue, a cable or connector fault, a network problem, or a hardware failure. Diagnosis starts by checking each of those — we don't assume the camera itself is dead until we've confirmed it.

My CCTV app isn't working. Can you fix it?

Yes. Remote viewing problems are commonly caused by router changes, IP address shifts, app updates or firmware issues. We diagnose the actual cause and restore remote access — including reconfiguring the app on your phone.

Can you fix home CCTV installed by another company?

In most cases, yes. We assess the equipment, condition and setup before confirming what we can do. We work on common brands sold in Kenya including Hikvision, Dahua, TP-Link Tapo and Ezviz.

Why does my CCTV footage only go back a few days?

Storage retention depends on the hard drive size, the number of cameras, the resolution and the recording schedule. If you want longer retention, we can recommend a larger drive, adjust the recording settings, or add additional storage.

Do you offer CCTV maintenance for homes outside Nairobi?

Yes. Qyvea services home CCTV across Kenya including Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Thika, Ruiru and Kiambu. Tell us where the property is and we'll confirm scheduling.
