FAQ
Common questions about maintenance & support
What does security system maintenance include?
It depends on the system, but generally covers inspecting the hardware (cameras, readers, sensors, motors, panels), checking power and connectivity, cleaning and physically checking components, testing that the system functions as expected, and fixing or recommending replacement for anything found faulty.
How often should CCTV systems be serviced?
It depends on the environment — a dusty warehouse or an outdoor perimeter camera generally needs more frequent attention than an indoor office camera. We recommend an inspection schedule after assessing your specific site and system, rather than a single fixed interval for every installation.
Can Qyvea maintain a system installed by another company?
In many cases, yes, subject to the system's condition, compatibility and our being able to access it properly. We assess the existing installation first — we don't assume universal compatibility with every brand or setup.
Can you repair CCTV cameras that are offline?
We diagnose the camera first — offline cameras can be a power issue, a network/cabling issue, a recorder issue or a hardware fault. Once we know the actual cause, we recommend the repair, part replacement or camera replacement needed.
Do automatic gate motors require regular maintenance?
Yes — gate motors are mechanical and work daily, so components like limit switches, safety sensors and the motor itself wear over time. Regular servicing helps catch a developing fault before the gate fails completely.
What causes electric fence faults?
Common causes include vegetation touching the fence line, a failing earth/grounding connection, a damaged insulator, a fence-line break, or an energizer fault. Diagnosis usually starts with the energizer and works along the fence line.
Can networking problems affect CCTV?
Yes — IP cameras and NVRs depend on the network. A switch fault, cabling problem or network congestion can show up as cameras going offline, recording gaps, or unreliable remote viewing, even though the cameras themselves are fine.
Can you maintain solar backup systems?
Yes — this includes inspecting panels, checking battery health, testing the inverter and connections, and assessing whether the system is still meeting its original backup requirement.
Do you provide maintenance for biometric attendance systems?
Yes — covering the terminal hardware, device connectivity, synchronization with the attendance software, and troubleshooting when reports or data transfer aren't working correctly.
Can businesses arrange scheduled maintenance?
Yes — we assess your systems first and put together a maintenance arrangement suited to what you actually have installed, rather than a generic one-size package. Contact us to discuss what scheduled maintenance would look like for your site.
What happens during a maintenance assessment?
We inspect the relevant systems on site, check the condition of the hardware, power and connectivity, note any faults or wear, and give you a clear picture of what's working, what needs attention now, and what to plan for.
When should equipment be repaired instead of replaced?
This depends on the equipment's age, the cost and availability of the specific repair versus a replacement, and whether the fault is isolated or a sign of broader wear. We diagnose first, then recommend the more sensible option for your situation rather than defaulting to either one.
