Solar street light price in Kenya
Solar street lights charge from their own panel during the day and switch on by themselves at dusk, so estates, schools and business compounds can light roads and perimeters with no trenching, no cables and no KPLC bill, and they keep working during blackouts. In our store solar street lights currently cost KES 2,200 to KES 5,750.

Why a "300W" light can cost less than a 60W one
The wattage printed on cheap solar street lights is usually not the real LED power. A light that truly draws 300 watts would need a solar panel bigger than a door and a battery the size of a car battery. What decides how bright a light is and how long it lasts through the night is:
- Solar panel size (in watts): the bigger the panel, the more energy it collects in a day.
- Battery capacity (in Wh or Ah, and the type): LiFePO4 lithium batteries last 4–6 years; cheaper lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries fade faster.
- Brightness in lumens: compare lumens, not watts. For a road or estate lane, 3,000–6,000 real lumens on a 6 m pole is a good target.
- Weatherproofing: IP65 or better for Kenya's rains and dust.
A heavier unit with a large panel and a named LiFePO4 battery is worth more than a cheap one with a big number on the box.
All-in-one or split solar street light?
All-in-one lights put the panel, battery and lamp in one body on top of the pole. They are quick to install and suit estate roads, parking and compounds. Split lights have a separate panel and battery box, so the panel can face the sun even when the lamp points elsewhere and the battery can be bigger. They suit main roads, gates and sites that need light all night every night.
Solar street lights for estates, schools and compounds
Well-lit roads and perimeters reduce break-ins and let CCTV record clear images at night. Gated estates often combine solar street lights with solar CCTV cameras and an electric fence, so the perimeter stays secure through KPLC outages. For whole-estate planning see estate perimeter security. Qyvea supplies, mounts and positions the lights, including poles where needed.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a solar street light in Kenya?
Solar street lights in the Qyvea store cost KES 2,200 to KES 5,750 today, depending on panel size, battery and build quality.
How long does a solar street light stay on at night?
A correctly sized light runs from dusk to dawn after a sunny day. Most dim to a low level when nobody is around and brighten when the motion sensor detects movement, which stretches the battery through cloudy days.
Do solar street lights work during the rainy season?
Yes, but they collect less energy on cloudy days. Choose a light with a larger panel and battery, and a motion-sensor mode, if you need it to last through the long and short rains.
How high should a solar street light pole be?
About 4–5 m for compounds and walkways, and 6–8 m for estate roads and parking. Higher poles spread the light wider but need a brighter lamp.
Does Qyvea install solar street lights?
Yes. We supply and install solar street lights, poles and mounting across Kenya, and can survey your estate or compound first.
