Where to Buy Solar Street Lights in Nairobi (and What to Ask)
Nairobi has many places that sell solar lights: electrical shops on River Road, online marketplaces and installers. The best place to buy is where you can get clear answers, a fair price and help after the sale. Here is how to choose.
Types of sellers
Electrical shops sell lights you can see and touch, but not all can advise on sizing. Online marketplaces give choice but you cannot always check what you receive. Installers give advice and installation, but may charge more.
Qyvea sells motion-sensor solar street lights online and by WhatsApp, delivers across Kenya and installs on request. We are at Westlands, Nairobi.
What to ask every seller
- What is the real runtime at night?
- Is the pole and bracket included?
- Is there a motion sensor, and what type?
- Do you deliver and install, and what does it cost?
- What do I do if it fails?
