Spacing Solar Street Lights on an Estate Road or Driveway

By Qyvea Limited · Updated 20 October 2026 · 2 min read

Light does not travel forever. If poles are too far apart, you get bright patches and dark gaps. Good spacing gives smooth, safe lighting.

The principle

Each light makes a pool of light on the ground. Pools should overlap slightly so there is no dark gap between poles.

Factors

The size of the light, the mounting height and the width of the road. A bigger light at a greater height covers more ground.

Ready to light up your place?

Motion-sensor solar lights with the pole included. No wiring, no power bill. Pick your size:

A practical approach

Mount one light, then check at night how far the useful light reaches. Place the next pole just inside that distance. Test before you fix all the poles.

Ask for a layout

Send the road length and width to us and we will suggest spacing and the number of lights.

In short: Overlap the pools of light, and test the first pole before installing the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a standard spacing?

No. It depends on the light and the road.

Can I stagger poles on both sides?

Yes, on wide roads it gives even coverage.

Need help choosing?

Tell us where you want the light and we will recommend the right size, even if it means a cheaper one.
