Security & IT Solutions for Schools

Student safety starts at the main gate and extends across an open campus that's hard to fully enclose.

01 · The Problem
Open campuses, uncontrolled visitor entry, no record of who is on site

Schools face a specific version of the access problem: campuses are often large and open, visitor and parent traffic is constant, and the consequence of a gap in control is more serious than in most other property types. Without a proper system, anyone can walk onto a campus, and there's often no clear record of staff attendance or who is actually on site at a given time.

What This Actually Needs

03 · Integration
How These Work Together

The main gate uses intercom or a staffed reception point to screen visitors before they enter the campus, logged rather than simply waved through. CCTV covers the main gate, entry points and open areas, giving a visual record independent of the gate log. Staff attendance is tracked on the same access-control hardware used for staff-only areas, and perimeter fencing defines the boundary the gate and cameras are protecting.

04 · Maintenance
Keeping It Running

School maintenance is best scheduled around term breaks and holidays to avoid disrupting classes -- see our school CCTV maintenance page for how this is typically arranged.

05 · Recommended Approach
Where to Start

Start with the main gate and perimeter -- this is the highest-priority safety boundary for any campus. Add CCTV at entry points and open areas next, then extend access control to staff-only zones (staff room, admin offices, stores) and integrate staff attendance on the same hardware.

Questions

Can visitor logging include parents picking up students?

Yes -- gate intercom or reception screening can log parent and visitor entries the same way as any other visitor, with the specific process designed around the school's pickup routine.

Does this cover student attendance as well as staff?

The primary use case here is staff attendance -- student attendance can be added but usually needs a different process suited to classroom-level tracking rather than a single gate reader.

How disruptive is installation during term time?

We plan installation and maintenance around school schedules wherever possible, working during holidays or after hours for anything that would disrupt classes.
