Step by step
- Check the gate — it must slide freely by hand on a straight, clean track; we fix rollers and track first if needed.
- Base and motor — a level concrete base or plate, with the motor positioned so the pinion meets the rack correctly.
- Rack — fixed along the gate at the right height, with a small gap to the pinion so the gate's weight does not sit on the motor.
- Power — cable to the motor, surge protection and earthing; battery backup or solar where needed.
- Safety — infrared safety beams across the opening, and end stops.
- Commissioning — limits, speed, obstacle sensitivity, auto-close, remotes and (on smart motors) the phone app.
