Buy Genuine Electrical Supplies in Kenya

Qyvea Limited supplies electrical materials to contractors, businesses and homeowners across Kenya. Every item is genuine stock with a manufacturer warranty, and our qualified electricians can install what we sell.

From a small house rewire to a full commercial distribution board, we stock everything you need — cable, breakers, boards, conduits, sockets, switches and accessories.

How to Choose the Right Electrical Supplies

Electrical installations have no shortcuts. Match the materials to the load, environment and regulatory requirements:

1. Cable size and type

Cable size determines current-carrying capacity. Common sizes: 1.5mm² for lighting, 2.5mm² for socket circuits, 4mm² and 6mm² for cookers and water heaters, 10mm²+ for sub-mains. Use armoured cable for underground and outdoor runs, and flexible cable for appliances and equipment connections.

2. Circuit breakers — MCB, MCCB, RCD

3. Distribution boards

Match board size (way count) to the number of circuits you need, plus spare ways for future expansion. Use three-phase boards for industrial installations. Metal boards are used in commercial premises; plastic in domestic.

4. Conduits and trunking

PVC conduit for surface and buried wiring; metal conduit in industrial areas for mechanical protection. Trunking is used for cable management in offices and clean installations. Sizes: 20mm, 25mm, 32mm and 50mm are common.

5. Sockets and switches

Use 13A BS sockets for domestic, industrial CEE sockets for heavy equipment. Weatherproof (IP-rated) sockets for outdoor and wet areas. Switches are single, double or multi-gang; plus dimmers, smart switches and motion sensors.

6. Earthing and bonding

Proper earthing is critical for safety. Use copper earth rods, earthing conductor cable (green/yellow) and earth bars in the distribution board. Test earth continuity at handover.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy electrical supplies in Kenya?

Qyvea Limited supplies electrical materials across Kenya — cables, breakers, distribution boards, conduits, sockets, switches and industrial components. We stock trusted brands, deliver nationwide, and provide professional installation.

What types of electrical cable do you stock?

We stock single-core and multi-core cables in various sizes — 1.5mm², 2.5mm², 4mm², 6mm², 10mm² up to larger sizes for industrial use. Both copper and aluminium options, plus armoured cable for outdoor and underground runs, and flexible cable for appliances.

How do I size a circuit breaker for my installation?

Circuit breaker size depends on the cable size and the load. Common domestic breakers are 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A, 32A and 40A. The breaker protects the cable, so it should be rated below the cable's maximum current-carrying capacity. For commercial and industrial installations we recommend a proper load calculation — our engineers can advise.

Do you install electrical equipment you sell?

Yes. Qyvea offers supply-only or supply-plus-installation. Our qualified electricians handle wiring, distribution board installation, earthing, testing and certification. See our electrical installation service.

What is the difference between MCB, MCCB and RCD?

MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) protects against overload and short circuit — used in domestic and small commercial boards. MCCB (Moulded Case Circuit Breaker) is a larger version for higher currents in industrial installations. RCD (Residual Current Device) protects people against electric shock by detecting earth leakage — mandatory on socket circuits in many installations.

Do you offer warranty on electrical supplies?

Yes. All electrical supplies carry the manufacturer's warranty — typically 1 to 3 years depending on brand and product. Qyvea also offers a 5-year workmanship warranty on installations.
