Choose the spot carefully. Quick answer Mount the K40 Pro near the staff entrance at about chest height (around 1.2 to 1.4 metres), out of direct sun and rain, with mains power and a network point nearby, and space for a queue to form without blocking the door. **Buy your ZKTeco K40 from Qyvea**: Supplied and installed across Kenya. Lower it a little if wheelchair users must punch. ## Power A mains outlet nearby with a small UPS prevents resets. See [power backup](https://qyvea.co.ke/zkteco-k40-pro-power-backup-ups-kenya). ## Network A wired Ethernet point to the switch, or the PC, makes the software connection reliable. Do not run a long cable alongside mains cables. ## Mounting - Use the supplied bracket and proper wall plugs. - Keep the cover closed. - Note IP, port and device number on a label inside the cover. ## Let us do it We install terminals neatly. See [installation in Nairobi](https://qyvea.co.ke/zkteco-k40-pro-installation-nairobi). ## A typical scenario A terminal near a west-facing glass door struggled in the afternoon sun. Moving it two metres into shade removed most read errors. *Illustrative example based on common cases, not a named customer.* ## Common mistakes - Direct sun. - Too high or too low. - No power plan. - Blocking an exit. - Outdoor without protection. ## Quick checklist 1. Choose shade 2. Chest height 3. Power nearby 4. Network point 5. Queue space 6. Label ## Frequently asked questions Can I install it outdoors? Only if the model is rated for it, and shaded. Most K40 terminals are for indoor use. Is a bracket included? Check the box contents; we supply mounting hardware on installations. Can I place it on a desk? Possible for a small office, but wall mounting is neater and safer. How far from the PC? Up to 100 metres by Ethernet cable.
