See [solar and power backup](https://qyvea.co.ke/solar-solutions). ## How long? The terminal and a switch draw very little power, so even a small UPS gives hours. Size it by the total watts of what you connect. ## Maintain Replace UPS batteries every two or three years. Check the terminal clock after outages ([set time](https://qyvea.co.ke/zkteco-k40-pro-set-date-and-time)). ## A typical scenario An Embakasi office lost its clock and connection with every blackout. A small UPS on the terminal and switch kept both alive for hours and ended the false lateness. *Illustrative example based on common cases, not a named customer.* ## Common mistakes - UPS for the terminal only. - Undersized UPS. - Old batteries. - No testing. - Ignoring the PC. ## Quick checklist 1. List devices 2. Total watts 3. Choose UPS 4. Install 5. Test 6. Replace batteries ## Frequently asked questions Do I need a UPS for the terminal only? Back up the switch too, or the terminal will be powered but disconnected. What size UPS? A 650 to 1000 VA unit is typical for a terminal, switch and router. Does the terminal have an internal battery? Many have a small battery for the clock. Do not rely on it for operation. Can Qyvea supply UPS and solar backup? Yes, we supply both. Message us.
