A terminal's published capacity is only half of the answer. The queue at 8 am is the other half. Quick answer Capacity differs by variant, so confirm the spec sheet. As a planning rule, count two fingerprints per person against the fingerprint capacity, and add a second terminal if more than about 30 to 50 people must punch within a few minutes. **Buy your ZKTeco K40 from Qyvea**: Supplied and installed across Kenya. Divide the fingerprint capacity by two (two fingers each) to see how many staff it supports. Confirm figures for your variant with the seller; do not rely on a web listing. ## Record capacity Capacity for punches is separate. At four punches a person per day, 100 staff create 400 records a day. Download regularly ([memory full](https://qyvea.co.ke/zkteco-k40-pro-memory-full)). ## The queue test A fingerprint check takes a second or two when it works. If 60 people arrive within five minutes, queues will form. Rules of thumb: - Under 30 people: one terminal is fine. - 30 to 80 with staggered arrival: one is fine, two is comfortable. - A shift change of many people at once: add terminals at each entrance. ## Where to place them See [where to install](https://qyvea.co.ke/zkteco-k40-pro-where-to-install). ## Growing Adding terminals is easy: see [multiple devices](https://qyvea.co.ke/zkbio-time-net-multiple-devices-branches). ## A typical scenario A 45-person factory found one terminal caused a queue at 7:55 am. A second terminal at the other entrance halved the wait. Capacity was fine; the queue was the issue. *Illustrative example based on common cases, not a named customer.* ## Common mistakes - Looking only at capacity. - Ignoring queues. - One finger per person. - Never clearing leavers. - No second terminal plan. ## Quick checklist 1. Count staff 2. Check capacity 3. Estimate peak 4. Plan locations 5. Plan growth 6. Review yearly ## Frequently asked questions What is the K40 Pro fingerprint capacity? It varies by variant.
