No binding national rule was found; this guide covers placement, monitoring, privacy and what cameras cannot do. A camera that records nothing useful is the most expensive thing on your wall. Read on: it takes a few minutes and could save you a lot more than that. **In this guide you will see:** - Officials urge CCTV; no binding national rule found. - Gates, corridors, dormitory entrances and parking. - Never in toilets or changing areas. Quick answer Officials and unions have urged schools to install CCTV, and a Kisumu county commissioner said cameras should be operational, monitored by designated staff and not just kept in the principal's office. I found no binding national requirement. Cover gates, corridors, dormitory entrances and parking, never toilets or changing areas, and remember cameras help response and evidence but do not replace supervision, fire safety and drills.
