What Do I Do? Try an external keyboard and a restart first. If keys still fail, replace the laptop keyboard with the exact model. Slow is not a feature you can return after month three. Read on: it takes a few minutes and could save you a lot more than that. **In this guide you will see:** - Restart and try an external keyboard first. - Spills need cleaning, not just a new keyboard. - Match the replacement to your exact model. Quick answer Dead keys come from dirt, a spill, a loose ribbon cable or a failing keyboard. Restart, update drivers and try an external keyboard to find out whether the problem is software or hardware. If the built-in keyboard is at fault, a replacement for your exact laptop model is a routine repair, and a spill is a sign to clean the board inside too.
