Most shop owners lose more to people inside than to shoplifters. Cameras, counts and clear rules fix most of it. Imagine something goes wrong at your gate tonight. Could you show exactly who, when and how? Read on: it takes a few minutes and could save you a lot more than that. **In this guide you will see:** - Cameras on the till, stockroom and back door. - Count stock often, and not by the same person who stores it. - Review voids, refunds and discounts every week. Quick answer Staff theft usually shows up as stock that does not match sales, voids and refunds at the till, and deliveries that do not match the invoice. Retailers quoted in the Kenyan press say collusion between employees and outsiders does more damage than shoplifting. The fix is three things working together: cameras on the till, the stockroom and the back door; regular stock counts by someone other than the person who keeps the stock; and written rules for refunds, discounts and deliveries. Footage and records together: video of the till or stock door, the till report, and the stock count that does not match. Keep copies and involve the police; do not accuse without evidence. Is it legal to put cameras where staff work? Yes for security, but footage of people is personal data under Kenya's data protection rules. Tell staff, post signs and limit who can view recordings. See the sources below. What are the usual signs? Stock shrinkage with no matching sales, many voids or refunds by one person, deliveries that do not match invoices, and staff who resist stock counts. Should I use a hidden camera? Visible cameras deter more theft. A discreet extra camera can be useful, but it still needs a sign and a clear legal basis. ## Why customers choose Qyvea **Genuine brands**: Manufacturer warranty on what we sell, so you are not gambling on the box. **One team, start to finish**: The people who advise you also install and support it. **Fast answers**: WhatsApp replies usually within 30 minutes, and delivery within 24 hours in Nairobi. **Easy to buy**: Pay by M-Pesa, bank transfer or card.
