If the beam is blocked, dirty or misaligned (after a knock or heavy rain), the gate will not close or will re-open. Clean the lenses and check nothing is in the way. 2. **Obstruction** — stones or debris in the track, or a leaf rubbing on the ground, make the motor sense a collision and reverse. 3. **Battery** — a weak battery can open the gate but not push it closed.
