For the committee ## Decide these before guards start - **Who can authorise visitors?** — By phone call to the resident, a pre-approved list, or both. - **What happens when a visitor cannot be confirmed?** — The guard needs a clear instruction, not a judgement call at 10 pm. - **Rules for deliveries and taxis** — Where they stop, and whether they may enter. - **After-hours rules for contractors** — Working hours, who signs them in and out. - **Who receives incident reports and who decides what to do** — One named person avoids delay. FAQ ## Common Questions How many guards does an estate need? It depends on how many gates are open, the size of the estate and the hours you cover. As a minimum, every gate that is open needs someone on it for every shift, plus patrol cover if the estate is large. We size it after walking the site. Can one guard handle the gate and patrols? Not at the same time. If the gate guard leaves the gate to patrol, the gate is unattended. That is why we separate the gate post from the patrol post. Can you work alongside our existing guards? We can review your current arrangement and recommend changes. If you prefer to keep your own guards, we can still supply the gate, camera and fence systems. What records do guards keep? Visitor and delivery logs, vehicle entries, patrol check-ins and incident reports, in the format agreed with your committee. Is supervision included? Supervision is part of the proposal.
