Plumbers, electricians, movers, gardeners, internet installers, construction crews and couriers make up a big share of traffic at most estate gates, and they're the hardest to manage with a paper book.

They're covered in the Estate Operations part of Qyvea's [estate security solutions](https://qyvea.co.ke/estate-solutions#operations).

## Contractor passes

Management defines each contractor's access once, and the gate enforces it:

| Field | Example |
| --- | --- |
| Who | Named contractor or company |
| Unit | The house or apartment being worked on |
| Valid dates | Start and end of the job |
| Valid time | Working hours only |
| Vehicle | Registered plate |
| Purpose | The job being done |
| Authorised by | Resident or management |

Outside the valid dates or hours, the pass simply stops working. No-one has to remember to cancel it.

## Delivery access

- Drop-off at the gatehouse only
- Escorted or time-limited access to the unit
- Resident notified or asked to approve
- Single-entry pass that expires on exit

## Why it matters

Delivery and contractor staff change constantly. Giving them controlled, temporary access, instead of shared codes or resident cards, keeps a clean record of who was inside, and when.

FAQ

## Common Questions

Can contractors get access for a multi-week job?

Yes. Passes can run for a date range, limited to working hours and the unit being worked on.

Do couriers need to be registered every time?

Each delivery is logged, but rules can make it quick, for example gatehouse drop-off with the resident notified.

Who can authorise a contractor?

The estate decides: usually the resident for work inside a unit, and management for common-area work.
