[Qyvea Limited](https://qyvea.co.ke/) maintains electric fences across Kenya for homes, estates, businesses and industrial sites. An electric fence does not need to be broken to need a service — vegetation grows, insulators get dirty, wires sag, earth rods dry out in long dry seasons and become less effective. A scheduled maintenance visit keeps the fence doing what it was installed to do. What we do ## What electric fence maintenance covers ### Voltage testing Voltage tested at the energiser, along the fence and at the far end — not just at the box. ### Earth resistance check Earth rod(s) tested for resistance. Poor earthing is a silent cause of weak fences. ### Insulator inspection Insulators, brackets and stand-offs checked for cracks, dirt and water tracking. ### Wire tension & condition Wires checked for breaks, corrosion, sagging and contact with vegetation or metal. ### Vegetation clearance Cutting back vegetation around the fence line — the most common cause of weak fences. ### Energiser health check Output, casing, terminals and power supply checked. Firmware updated where supported. Contracts ## Maintenance contracts For homes, estates, businesses and industrial sites that rely on the fence as a primary deterrent, Qyvea offers scheduled maintenance contracts. A contract typically includes: - Visits at an agreed frequency (quarterly, half-yearly or annual) - Priority response for faults between visits - Documented voltage and earth readings after every visit - Discounted replacement parts where items fail Contracts are also available for [homes](https://qyvea.co.ke/electric-fence-for-homes-kenya), [estates](https://qyvea.co.ke/electric-fence-for-estates-kenya), [businesses](https://qyvea.co.ke/electric-fence-for-businesses-kenya) and [factories](https://qyvea.co.ke/electric-fence-for-factories-kenya). Frequency ## How often should an electric fence be serviced? - **Quarterly** — long fence lines, heavy vegetation growth, public-facing boundaries, estates and industrial sites. - **Half-yearly** — most homes and businesses with manageable vegetation and short perimeters. - **Annually** — low-exposure sites where the fence is a secondary deterrent. Typically combined with an annual deep service. The right frequency depends on how the site is used, not on a fixed rule. Qyvea advises after the first site visit. FAQ ## Common maintenance questions How often should an electric fence be serviced? Most properties benefit from a service every 6 to 12 months. Sites with heavy vegetation growth, long fence lines or public exposure benefit from quarterly servicing. What does electric fence maintenance include? Voltage testing along the full fence, earth rod resistance check, insulators, brackets, tension of the wires, vegetation clearance around the fence, energiser health check and alarm monitor test. Do you offer maintenance contracts? Yes. Qyvea offers scheduled maintenance contracts for homes, estates, businesses and industrial sites. Contracts include periodic visits, priority fault response and documented health reports. Can you maintain a fence installed by another company? Yes. Qyvea maintains existing electric fences regardless of who installed them. We document the fence, back up any configurations, and take over ongoing servicing. How much does electric fence maintenance cost in Kenya? Cost depends on fence length, number of strands, number of gates and energisers, and the frequency of visits.
