Which Hikvision cameras capture sound, how to switch audio recording on, and the privacy points to think about first. Imagine something goes wrong at your gate tonight. Could you show exactly who, when and how? Read on: it takes a few minutes and could save you a lot more than that. **In this guide you will see:** - Audio needs a camera with a mic or audio input. - Set the stream type to Video & Audio on camera and recorder. - Analogue (Turbo HD) audio cameras need a DVR that supports audio over coax. Quick answer Hikvision records audio only when the camera has a built-in microphone (or an external microphone connected to an audio input) and audio is switched on in the stream settings. Many standard cameras have no microphone, so they record video only. Recording conversations also raises privacy obligations, so decide where audio is really needed. [Photo: Alan J. Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, CCTV operators should be able to justify what they record and tell people they are being recorded, usually with clear signage. Many businesses keep audio to specific points such as a cash counter or gate, not offices or staff areas. **When to call a professional**: Not sure which cameras support audio, or want two-way talk at the gate?
